WELCOME
Lighting of the Christ Candle
One: Christ is our Light
All: Thanks be to God
*INVOCATION
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty (VU 315, vs. 1)
*CALL TO WORSHIP
One: We gather as the world turns in conflict and worry.
All: We gather and affirm our trust in God’s reign.
One: We gather as the earth groans with the weight of our over-indulgent living.
All: We gather looking to God for justice. We gather knowing Christ is alive in us.
One: We gather as those who have exploited and those who have been exploited.
All: We gather looking to God for justice. We gather with the One who forgives and reconciles.
One: We gather as the people of God.
All: We gather looking to God for justice. We gather and proclaim God’s realm is within us.
PRAYER OF APPROACH
*Hymn VU # 374 Come and Find the Quiet Centre
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
All: We never intend to be people of injustice, but we know our lifestyle choices and life decisions always affect others. In our living, may we choose justice, live responsibly, and act wisely. We never intend to hurt this world, but the Earth testifies that we do not always live in balance with your creation. In our world may we live in sustainable ways, travel lightly, and honour the Earth. We never intend to be exclusive, but we know the ways faith can divide us and see the harm that has been done in your name. May we grow your realm with grace that includes, openness that leads to understanding, and love that transforms all?
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: God says: The vine grows once more, the soil holds life again, and hope returns to your living. Let us live committed to justice and confident in God’s reign of justice, forgiveness, and renewal for all creation. The seed has been planted in us.
All: Thanks be to God. Amen.
